Robert Morris beats Merrimack, improves to 2-0 in Northeast Conference

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. — Josh Williams hit 5 of 7 3-pointers and scored 17 points, and Robert Morris defeated Merrimack, 69-58, on Saturday.

AJ Bramah added 16 points and eight rebounds for the Colonials (6-9, 2-0 Northeast Conference), who had five players score in double figures. Jalen Hawkins chipped in 12, and Dante Treacy and Yannis Mendy scored 10 apiece.

Idris Joyner had 13 points for the Warriors (7-8, 1-1). Jaleel Lord and Juvaris Hayes added 11 points apiece with Lord grabbing seven rebounds and Hayes dishing eight assists.

Merrimack was within five with less than three minutes to play before Bramah’s layup made it 59-52 with 2 minutes, 53 seconds remaining. The Warriors made just one of two free throws before Williams nailed a 3-pointer. Next it was Hawkins with a layup before Williams 3-pointer made it 67-53.

Merrimack was limited to 3 of 4 free throws over the final 3:30 before a 3-pointer with nine seconds left. The Warriors had two turnovers in that dry spell.
