FORT WAYNE, Ind. — AJ Bramah had a career-high 28 points as Robert Morris defeated Purdue Fort Wayne, 102-88, on Saturday night in the Colonials’ Horizon League debut.

Kam Farris had 17 points for Robert Morris (2-2, 1-0). Jon Williams added 17 points and nine assists. Kahliel Spear had 13 points.

“(Kam’s) performance in practice has certainly improved,” RMU coach Andy Toole said. “We got a glimpse of him with Jon, AJ, Dante (Treacy) and Kahliel in practice the last couple of days. We just thought that group had a really good chemistry and flow to them offensively. Kam made some big shots and had opportunities. I thought it was certainly a really positive group on the court for us the majority of the night they played together.”

The Colonials joined the Horizon in July after 39 years as a charter member of the Northeast Conference.

Robert Morris was picked fourth in the preseason Horizon League poll but was coming off a nonconference loss to Marshall on Dec. 20, its first road game of the season.

It was the first time this season Robert Morris scored at least 100 points.

“The key itself was having practices, being able to try and build some rhythm back and remind them about the things that are important when it comes to winning games,” Toole said. “We still have a long way to go, but there was great fight in our guys tonight. Obviously we made a ton of shots tonight, which always makes thing look a lot better. I’m glad we were able to get the win and I’m glad we were able to keep fighting and figure some stuff out.”

Jarred Godfrey had 22 points for the Mastodons (1-3, 0-3). Deonte Billups added 14 points. Dylan Carl had 12 points.

The teams meet again at 5 p.m. Sunday.
