Robert Morris signs trio of newcomers

Robert Morris men’s basketball coach Andy Toole announced Thursday receiving letters of intent from three incoming players, including two from junior colleges.

They are freshman forward Olisa Ngonadi of Fort Washington, Md., and junior forwards D.J. Russell of Jacksonville, Fla., and AJ Bramah of San Leandro, Calif.

“As we get set to usher in a new era of Robert Morris basketball with the opening of the UPMC Events Center, we felt as a coaching staff that the signing of these three student-athletes are perfect fits for our roster,” Toole said in a statement. “The signings of Olisa, D.J. and AJ give us size and toughness in the low post and help give us a balanced roster. I’m really excited to watch these three guys develop.”

Ngonadi, 6-foot-8, 175 pounds and a native of Nigeria, averaged a double-double as a senior at National Christian Academy (12 points, 11.7 rebounds). He also blocked 143 shots.

DJ Russell, 6-7, 210, was just shy of a double-double, averaging 19.2 points and 9.7 rebounds while shooting 51.1 percent at Miami Dade.

AJ Bramah, 6-7, 185, played at Sheridan College where he averaged 13.2 points, 8.8 rebounds and shot 52.8 percent from the field.
