Robert Morris women’s basketball coach Charlie Buscaglia resigned Monday, said Chris King, RMU vice president and director of athletics.
“We thank Charlie for his efforts on behalf of RMU women’s basketball,” King said. “We wish him well personally and professionally moving forward.”
In eight seasons, Buscaglia leaves RMU with an overall record of 126-102.
Scott Schneider, who was in his third season as associate head coach, will serve as the acting head coach for the remainder of the season.
Schneider is in his 14th overall season with the RMU women’s program. The Kansas native also served as an assistant coach for seven seasons, helping the Colonials reach five Northeast Conference title games, winning three.
The Colonials are 6-18 overall this season and 2-13 in the Horizon League. Buscaglia’s final game at the helm was a close 67-65 conference setback at Oakland on Saturday.
A national search for a new coach will begin immediately, RMU officials said in a statement.
