Sidney Crosby, Canada fall to Finland in IIHF championships

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby was held without a point while skating for Canada in a 2-1 shootout loss to Finland in a preliminary-round game during the International Ice Hockey Federation’s (IIHF) World Championship tournament at Avicii Arena in Stockholm on Monday.

Opening the contest as Canada’s second-line center, Crosby had two shots in regulation and was 8 for 12 (66.6%) on faceoffs while logging 18 minutes, 39 seconds of ice time on 22 shifts. He was denied on his lone shootout attempt.

Former Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury made 20 saves on 21 shots in regulation and overtime for Canada. He stopped three of five attempts in the shootout.
