Mt. Pleasant relief pitcher Meadow Uncapher celebrates closing out Belle Vernon in the PIAA Class 4A quarterfinals at Greater Latrobe High School.

Meadow Uncapher took a roundabout path to Division I softball, but St. Francis (Pa.) is glad the freshman pitcher found her way to Loretto.

Uncapher, a former pitcher and infielder who won WPIAL and PIAA championships at Mt. Pleasant, won her first two starts for the Red Flash (5-4) and has not given up an earned run in 16 innings.

Her efforts earned her Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week honors.

Uncapher, who initially planned to go to Seton Hill but altered those plans because of a coaching change, pitched complete games against Savannah State and Cleveland State, allowing nine hits with five strikeouts and four walks across 14 innings.
