Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cory Trice Jr. (27) celebrates after intercepting a pass during the second half of an NFL football game against the Denver Broncos, Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, in Denver.

Defensive back Cory Trice Jr. has been selected the recipient of the Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2024 Ed Block Courage Award.

The award is presented annually to one player from every NFL team who “exemplifies commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and courage.” Recipients are selected in a vote of their teammates to reward those who overcame personal or professional adversity.

Trice overcame lower body injuries in three of his five seasons at Purdue, yet returned from each to post 106 tackles, five interceptions and two touchdowns in his college career.

Selected in the seventh round of the 2023 NFL Draft by the Steelers, Trice tore an ACL in training camp and spent his rookie season on injured reserve. He recovered to return in August, then recorded two tackles, a pass breakup and a game-changing interception in the end zone in the third quarter of their Week 2 win at Denver before suffering a hamstring injury in the home opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.
