A Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad player was arraigned and charged by Pittsburgh police in connection with an alleged incident involving a woman Saturday.

Offensive lineman Jarron Jones, 26, of Rochester, N.Y., is charged with one count each of aggravated assault and strangulation — both felonies — and simple assault, a misdemeanor.

Trib news partner WPXI reported Jones allegedly assaulted and strangled the woman at a local Airbnb in Pittsburgh.

According to the police criminal complaint, officers responded to a domestic call on Roberts Street in Pittsburgh’s Crawford-Roberts neighborhood about 2 a.m. for a domestic violence situation.

Jones and the woman were at the Airbnb when officers arrived, and the woman told police Jones had hit her in the face and smashed a video game console over her head.

She then reported blacking out and losing consciousness.

The woman was transported to UPMC Presbyterian in stable condition.

The 911 caller reported hearing yelling, loud banging and the sound of items breaking.

Police said the woman had abrasions on her face and bruising on her arm.

Jones told police he went out earlier in the evening with the woman, and she came home after him and began “breaking items in the apartment and yelling” at him so he picked her up and “placed her outside.”

Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert issued the following statement: “We are aware of the situation regarding Jarron Jones. We are gathering all of the details of these disturbing allegations, but we will not comment any further at this time.”

Airbnb has banned Jones from using the service, a spokesman said.

Jones was a defensive tackle at Notre Dame and was signed to the Steelers practice squad Sept. 6.

He previously was signed by the Steelers as a free agent on April 20, 2020, and played for the New York Guardians in the XFL during the league’s 2020 season.

Jones entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent, signing with the Giants following the 2017 NFL Draft.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 24.
