The Steelers’ MyCole Pruitt pulls in a second-quarter touchdown Dec. 21, 2024 at M&T Bank Stadium.

MyCole Pruitt was an addition to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ status report with a knee injury, as the 10th-year veteran tight end was a limited participant in Tuesday’s practice at UPMC Rooney Sports Complex.

The 6-foot-2, 258-pound Pruitt has six receptions for 40 yards and a touchdown in 12 games (five starts) for the Steelers this season. Pruitt missed four games earlier in the season with a knee injury.

Right guard Mason McCormick, who suffered a broken left hand in the season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals, also was a limited participant.

Starting cornerback Donte Jackson, who missed the finale with a back issue, returned to practice and was listed as a full participant.

Defensive tackle Cameron Heyward did not practice because of illness, as the team captain said after Saturday’s season finale against the Cincinnati Bengals that he is battling flu symptoms. Left guard Isaac Seumalo was given the day off as a resting veteran.

Anderson returns to practice

Reserve offensive lineman Calvin Anderson (groin) also returned to practice. Anderson remains on the injured reserve list and enters a 21-day window during which he must be activated, or he is officially out for the season.

Twenty-one days from Tuesday is two days after the AFC championship is played, although if they so choose the Steelers are free to activate Anderson before then.

A five-year veteran who has 14 career starts from 2020-23 for the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots, Anderson appeared in four early-season games for the Steelers. He played 11 offensive snaps and one on special teams.

The Steelers last week opened the window for two IR players — rookie receiver Roman Wilson and rookie defensive lineman Logan Lee — as well as for veteran inside linebacker Cole Holcomb, who is on the physically unable to perform list. They continue to practice, and all three were listed as full participants Tuesday.
