Undefeated Washington & Jefferson rolls past Saint Vincent
Justin Heacock threw five touchdown passes as Washington & Jefferson stayed undefeated in convincing fashion with a 63-22 PAC victory over Saint Vincent on Saturday.
Heacock was 16 for 18 passing for 188 yards. EJ Thompson had 122 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Presidents (6-0, 5-0). Andrew Wolf and Payton Skalos caught two touchdowns each. Wolf had nine receptions for 142 yards. Brady Walker had 276 passing yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for the Bearcats (3-2, 2-2).
Carnegie Mellon 34, Westminster 10 — Tre Vasiliadis, the PAC’s leading rusher, carried 34 times for 163 yards and two touchdowns as Carnegie Mellon (4-2, 4-1) defeated Westminster (3-2, 3-1) to win its fourth straight game over a ranked opponent. Kris Hughes caught four passes for 63 yards and a touchdown and also threw for a score. Ben Mills threw for 168 yards and a TD. Alex Javier had three grabs for 57 yards and a touchdown. CMU held Westminster to six yards rushing.
Grove City 56, Geneva 7 — Grove City’s defense smothered Geneva, allowing only 26 yards rushing while forcing four turnovers in a PAC victory. Josh Ehst passed for 205 yards and three touchdowns for the Wolverines (5-1, 4-1) and Zach Trusky had a pair of rushing scores. Nico Flati rushed for 182 yards and touchdown. Hilton McClain had a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown for Geneva (2-4, 2-3).
Division II
Cal (Pa.) 38, Gannon 17 — Noah Mitchell threw for 382 yards and four touchdowns to lead Cal (Pa.) (6-0, 3-0) to a a PSAC win at Gannon (2-4, 1-2). Cam Tarrant caught 11 passes for 124 yards and a touchdown for the Vulcans while teammate Tyson Hill added seven receptions for 102 yards. Kory Curtis threw for 213 yards for Gannon.
IUP 58, Clarion 21 — IUP (4-1, 3-0) led 38-7 at halftime and rolled past Clarion (0-6, 0-3) on its way to a PSAC win. Dayjure Stewart and Malik Anderson had a pair of rushing touchdowns each for the Crimson Hawks. Harry Woodberry passed for 263 yards and two touchdowns and Duane Brown had six catches for 137 yards an a score. Zechariah Anderson passed for 284 yards and two touchdowns for Clarion.
Seton Hill 19, Mercyhurst 17 — Logan Wiland scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to help Seton Hill (3-3, 1-3) earn its first PSAC win of the season. Wiland scored on runs of 7, 3 and 10 yards and finished the game with 185 yards on 38 carries. Joe Carter threw two touchdown passes for Mercyhurst (1-5, 0-3) in the first quarter. The first one was a 28-yard strike to Justin Hill and he later connected with Trevon Tate for a 68 yard score.
Slippery Rock 49, Edinboro 13 — Andrew Koester passed for 266 yards and four touchdowns and rushed for another score to lead sixth-ranked Slippery Rock (6-0, 3-0) to a PSAC victory over Edinboro (1-4, 1-2). Jermaine Winn Jr. had five receptions for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Max Maciejewski and Cinque Sweeting also had touchdown receptions for The Rock. Mike Watkins caught a 7-yard pass from Isaac Bernard for Edinboro’s lone touchdown.
Division I FCS
St. Francis (Pa.) 55, LIU 10 — Justin Sliwoski passed for 202 yards and three touchdowns as St. Francis (Pa.) (3-3, 2-0) pasted LIU (0-4, 0-1) in NEC action. Kahtero Summers, Josh McGrigg and Marques DeShields had receiving touchdowns for the Red Flash, who scored 28 points in the second half to pull away. McGrigg had three touchdowns.
