Weekend College Top 10: Duquesne junior nearly breaks scoring record in OT win
Every Monday, the Tribune-Review will highlight 10 top area college performances from the weekend:
1. Sole’s big day carries Dukes to 9th straight victory
Junior Laia Solé scored 38 points — the most by a Duquesne in more than 20 years — in a 72-69 overtime victory over St. Francis (Pa.) on Sunday.

Korie Hlede recorded a school-record 42 points on Feb. 11, 1998, against Dayton.
Libby Bazelak added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Duquesne (9-2).
St. Francis dropped to 2-7.

2. No. 5 IUP men eclipse 100 points
Armoni Foster totaled 19 points and a personal-best seven steals to lead the Crimson Hawks past Bethany, 108-41, on Sunday.
The point total was the most for IUP in coach Joe Lombardi’s 14 years and the second-highest in program history.

Malik Miller added added 17 points and five assists for the Crimson Hawks, who shot 54.4% from the field. IUP improved to 8-0.

3. No. 4 Pitt-Johnstown wrestling earns another win vs. top-10 opponent
Top-ranked Chris Eddins (Greensburg Salem) had a pin against Jamie Ward to help the Mountain Cats down No. 10 West Liberty, 28-13, on Saturday.
Third-ranked 165-pounder Devin Austin (Penn-Trafford) earned a 12-2 major decision, and fourth-ranked 174-pounder Brock Biddle recorded a technical fall.
Pitt-Johnstown (10-2) was coming off a victory against No. 7 Ashland.
West Liberty dropped to 4-5.

4. Pitt-Greensburg men roll to 7-1 start
Junior Cam Seigfreid (Penn-Trafford) had 21 points and 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the season and second of his career as the Bobcats routed Hilbert, 82-62, in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference on Saturday.
JoJo France contributed 15 points for Pitt-Greensburg (7-1, 5-0).

5. Till returns, sparks Slippery Rock men to win
All-American Micah Till made his season debut and had 14 points, three steals and three blocks — including one with 42 seconds left — as The Rock held off Salem, 72-69, in a nonconference game Saturday.
Till, who sat out the first semester because of NCAA transfer rules, added three steals in 18 minutes for Slippery Rock (5-4).
Will Robinson Jr. led The Rock with 22 points and 17 rebounds.
Salem slipped to 4-6.

6. La Roche men stay unbeaten in conference
Kennedy Smith (Steel Valley) hit 11 of 13 shots and scored 27 points in a 90-79 victory Saturday in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference. He leads the conference with a 20.8 scoring average.

Austin Hannes (Knoch) added 22 points and five assists for the Redhawks (3-5, 3-0).

7. Seton Hill’s balance leads victory
Courtney Cecere finished with 15 points, eight assists and eight rebounds, and four other Griffins scored in double figures in their 91-77 nonconference victory at Salem on Saturday. Sydney Rabold (Ambridge) added 14 points and seven assists for Seton Hill (7-1).

8. Waynesburg wrestlers 4th at Long Island Open
Freshman heavyweight Rocky McGeary (West Allegheny) took first to help the Yellowjackets place fourth of 18 teams Saturday in Garden City, N.J.
It was the second straight first-place finish for McGeary.
Dillion Charlton came in second at 184 pounds, and 184-pounder Dan Verhovsek and 174-pounder Caleb Baxter (Butler) were fourth.

9. Late goal lifts Chatham men’s hockey
Tristan Hillebert’s second goal of the game came with 56 seconds left and broke a tie as the Cougars edged Fredonia, 4-3, on Saturday.
Goaltender Ricardo Gonzalez made 41 saves for Chatham (2-11), and Michael Lamison added two assists.

10. Westminster men shoot way to victory
Dylan O’Hara scored 24 points, and the Titans shot 53.1% from the field en route to an 82-72 victory over Kenyon in a nonconference game Friday.
Isaac Stamatiades added 20 points and seven rebounds for Westminster (6-3), which improved to 5-0 at home.
Kenyon dropped to 4-4.
