Westmoreland campus clippings: Saint Vincent routs Thiel in PAC football

Saint Vincent was met with little resistance in its third football game of the season as the Bearcats cruised past Thiel, 41-7, to move to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.
Brady Walker threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns, freshman Billy Beck scored two touchdowns and grad student Keith Kalp (Mt. Pleasant) had four receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown to lead the offense.
Sophomore Molayo Irefin added six catches for 108 yards and a score, while freshman tight end Kyle Silk (Ligonier Valley) caught his first college touchdown.
For the defense, freshman Joanes Polynice had 12 tackles, freshman Jaden Edmonds forced a fumble, and freshman Evan Brozenich and freshman Marvelle Cromerdie each had an interception for the Bearcats, who outgained the Tomcats (0-4, 0-3), 422-191.
Polynice was named the PAC Rookie of the Week.
Eastern Carolina: Redshirt freshman Trent Holler (Latrobe) made his first start as the Pirates topped Charleston Southern, 31-28. Holler is a 6-foot-2, 308-pound lineman.
Pitt: A pair of local offensive linemen – redshirt junior Blake Zubovic (Belle Vernon) and freshman Matt Metrosky (Greensburg Central Catholic) – saw playing time for the Panthers in a 77-7 rout of New Hampshire. Zubovic (6-4, 325) is on scholarship, while Metrosky (6-1, 290) is looking to earn one as a preferred walk-on.
Washington & Jefferson: Sophomore linebacker Justin Johns (Franklin Regional) had four tackles, a sack and two pass break-ups as the Presidents took care of Case Western, 37-14, to move to 4-0 (3-0 PAC).
Men’s soccer
Cal (Pa.): Junior Jake Nebinski (Norwin) had a pair of assists as the Vulcans opened PSAC play with a 5-0 victory over Pitt-Johnstown.
Lebanon Valley: Junior Zach Snider (Franklin Regional) came off the bench and scored his first goal of the season, and second of his career, in a 4-2 win ovet Neumann.
Women’s soccer
Seton Hill: Junior goalkeeper Grace Kenyon was named the PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week. Kenyon picked up her third shutout of the season as the Griffins blanked Mercyhurst, 1-0. She made eight saves.
Westminster: Freshman Natalie Vilchek (Yough) scored her first collegiate goal in a 2-1 loss to Heidelberg.
Men’s golf
Bowling Green: Redshirt freshman Brady Pevarnik (Latrobe) finished tied for 19th at the Dayton Flyer Invitational with scores of 71, 70 and 73 for a 4-over-par total of 214.
Gannon: Junior Clayton Skoff (Franklin Regional) registered rounds of 72 and 82 en route to a tie for 18th, and his contributions helped the Golden Knights win the Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Memorial Country Club of Meadville.
Freshman teammate Michael Wareham (Franklin Regional) carded rounds of 75 and 70 to tie fo fourth in the individual standings.
Penn State Altoona: Freshman Logan Divald (Norwin) shot 81, 79 to finish tied for 37th at the Allegheny College Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Memorial Invitational at the Country Club of Meadville. Team and classmate Nathan Graham (Norwin) shot 86-78 to tie for 47th.
Men’s tennis
Pitt-Greensburg: Junior Turner Price (Penn-Trafford) was tabbed the AMCC Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week. Price has not given up a point in singles play and has not lost a match (3-0).
Women’s volleyball
Chatham: Senior outside hitter Emily Richie (Norwin) was named the PAC Offensive Player of the Week as Chatham put together a 4-0 stretch. Richie had a season-high 19 kills in a four-set win over Thiel and added 12 kills in 3-0 win over Franciscan. She added kills totals of 12 and 16 against Saint Vincent and Geneva. Her hitting percentage for the four matches was 25.9%.
DePaul: Freshman Ali Kindelberger (Franklin Regional) is seeing signifcant playing time in her first season. Through 14 matches, the middle blocker has 48 kills and a team-high 56 blocks.
Seton Hill: Senior middle hitter Kierstin Schade (Hempfield) was named the PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week. An Eastern Kentucky transfer, Schade had 12 blocks in a five-set win against IUP and three more in a loss to Gannon.
