Trailing Glenville State by two points with 6.7 seconds remaining, Seton Hill had one more punch waiting for the visiting Pioneers.

A near turnover in the closing moments instead became the shot of the year so far for the men’s basketball team.

Grad guard Ryan Meis inbounded from in front of his team’s bench to sophomore forward Kedrick Curtis, who nearly had the ball stolen. Curtis, though, chased after the ball, jostling for possession with the Pioneers’ Paul Gakmar.

Curtis finally corralled the ball near the top of the opposite key, turned and launched a 70-foot heave that splashed down at the buzzer to give the Griffins a 73-72 win at McKenna Center.

The play was shown on ESPN’s SportsCenter on Sunday morning as part of “Saturday’s Best.”

Curtis was named the PSAC West Athlete of the Week.
