Seton Hill’s Jack Oberdorf hit 15 home runs in 2023.

At this rate, Jack Oberdorf’s postseason award total is going to catch up to his home run total.

The senior third baseman from Seton Hill added a prestigious honor as he joined sophomore teammate and pitcher Blake Barker as a Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association All-America honorable mention selection.

Oberdorf, a Greensburg Salem alum, already was named all-region by the D2CCA, National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association.

He also was selected to the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference First Team.

Oberdorf led Seton Hill with 15 homers and 57 RBIs. He batted .343 with 14 doubles and three triples as the Griffins went 48-13 and won PSAC and Atlantic Region titles before falling short in the Super Regional.

Barker, the closer, went 4-1 with four saves and a 2.00 ERA.

Pitt-Greensburg: Freshman James Domer turned head this season with the numbers he put up at UPG.

The pitcher and outfielder was voted as the Eastern College Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year and also made the All-ECAC Team.

Domer led the Bobcats in just about every offensive category, including slugging percentage (.716), hits (68), runs (53), doubles (19), triples (six), home runs (four), RBIs (56) and stolen bases (11).

The Connellsville graduate batted .439 with a 1.208 OPS.

UPG freshman Coln Solinski also was voted All-ECAC. He led the team with a .469 average to go with 53 hits, 30 runs and 41 RBIs.

Washington & Jefferson: Utility man extraordinaire Tyler Horvat (Penn-Trafford) received distinguished recognition from the College Sports Communicators as he was named to the organization’s Academic All-America First Team.

In addition to being a five-time All-American on the field, the senior is now a three-time academic All-American.

He is the first student-athlete from W&J to make the team.

Horvat, who had a 3.99 GPA, went 11-3 as a pitcher with a career-high 82 strikeouts in 93 1/3 innings. He was a school-record 29-4 on the mound in his career.

The center fielder hit .387 with 54 runs scored and set a program season record with 30 stolen bases — giving him a school-record 62 for his career.

Horvat will pursue a master’s degree from Bryant and plans to play a fifth year at the Division I level for the Bulldogs.

Women’s golf

Westmoreland County Community College: Freshman Kylie Kadas finished 15th at the NJCAA National Championship at Chautauqua Golf Course in Chautauqua, N.Y. Kadas, who shot 148-over 444 in the four-round event, earned third-team All-American honors.

Wrestling

Seton Hill: Brian Tucker resigned as the Griffins’ coach after 10 seasons.

Tucker said the program “needs new energy to keep moving forward.”

Tucker led the team to 81 dual wins and two PSAC a runner-up finishes. Seton Hill was second in the 2017-18 National Wrestling Coaches Association Duals.

In 2019-20, the Griffins took fourth in the Super Regional 1 Tournament with 10 placewinners.
